Welcome to the LindisFans Project web site

The LindisFans Project is a tribute album to the legendary band Lindisfarne.   Lindisfarne was a band of the people, therefore a few of us fans have chosen to show our love and respect for the songs of Lindisfarne and what they stood for by representing them on this recording.  The result is an interesting journey into the heart and soul of Lindisfarne.  The songs each of us chose, as it turned out, span the range of Lindisfarne's legacy from Nicely Out of Tune to Promenade.  They are presented in a way that each individual chose to interpret their choice.  It ranges from simple guitar and vocals to full band renditions.  From pure folk to rock & roll.  This is not an attempt to replicate the sound of Lindisfarne.  Rather, it is an attempt to show the greatness of the songs.  They transcend the presentation.  Get ready to be surprised.

"Every track, without exception, is well-executed and done with feeling.  The versions here acknowledge the originals without being in awe of them, and as with all good cover versions, it's like hearing the song again for the first time."- Rod Clements

We ended up with some songs everyone can sing along to, and some you might have to brush up on.  As you can see, this is not a "greatest hits" collection, nor was it meant to be.  Each artist chose their song(s) for their own reasons.  The result is a remarkable display of creativity, and the love of the song shines through each and every track.  You may not like some arrangements, you may love others.  I truly like them all.  But, I guarantee that there is something here for every Lindisfarne fan, and dare I say, for anyone.  There are two live tracks, male and female performers, and people from their 20's to their 60's.  Settle into your comfort zone with a 2X version of Poor Old Ireland, where a one-man-one-guitar version morphs into a full band version to show how the beauty and power of a song transcends the presentation.  Then it's time to venture from your comfort zone.  Get ready for a roller coaster ride to the finish.  We all know that we can't surpass the original versions, so we each put our own spin on the songs, leaving the listener with a most interesting array of approaches.  As I said, be prepared to be surprised.
