Born in Gateshead in the eighties, Andy moved south in 2001 to study Music and Sound Recording and then find work in the music business. Eight years later, he's still there. Having started off as a technical engineer for a few different artists, he has progressed to engineer and producer, and has a few credits to his name. He has co-produced the latest two offerings from Liverpool born songwriter Colin Vearncombe (Black) and has just finished work on a new compilation album with Gerry Rafferty. He looks forward to the days when he can live off the earnings of one of the many songs of his own he is constantly writing and recording. A pipedream perhaps? Only in the best sense of the term. I suspect we will be hearing much more from the multi-talented Mr. Patterson.
"Never Miss the Water is a very underrated track in my opinion, and I hope I have done it justice. What isn't played live, I programmed using the tools of my trade. Soho Square seemed a natural choice, and it was a song I tried to cut a version of a few years previous, after first moving to London. Without spoiling too many surprises, I saw a symmetry between this and another Alan Hull song and managed to make them fit.
"Many thanks to Steve Foster for all his good work and to the lads themselves for the songs and the memories." - Andy Check out Andy's music. You'll be glad you did. It's very good stuff, and there's a very cool video on his myspace site.
