Fire Inn Lads

The Fire Inn Lads are the only Americans to contribute to this project.  They are a collaboration of 3 musicians from Indianapolis, Indiana.  Their collective backgrounds range from rock to folk to country to bluegrass and even big band.

Steve has been a fan of Lindisfarne since he first discovered them somewhere around 1971, a pure twist of fate that would lead to what would be a journey that lasted a lifetime.  When the Beatles broke ground in America for the British Invasion in 1964, Steve worked his way through bands as a saxophonist, bass player, guitar player and SF_mic3_resizedsinger.  His first regionally successful band was Sounds Unlimited, which the British magazine The Beat ran a 3-part feature on in the Sept.-Nov. issues of 2009.  From the pop of the Beatles to harder and harder rock, Steve was solidly established in rock and roll.  Through a series of life events, he ended up forming a duo with an old band mate for lack of anything better to do at the time.  It was the forming of this duo that led to the discovery of Lindisfarne.  They were performing Winter Song, MMOTC and others soon after. After losing track of the band for 20 some years, Steve rediscoverd them, still crazy after all these years.  When the Acoustic Trio made a tour of the States in 2001, Steve booked them at a local pub.  Steve was taken by the quality of the music and of Rod, Billy, Dave, and Sparks, and friendships were formed.  Steve went on to visit Newcastle in 2003 for the final concert and in 2005 for the Hull Story.  While there, he also attended Heroes and Scarecrows twice where he formed a friendship with Steve Daggett and first heard of BBC's Children In Need.  The LindisFans Project was first conceived after that first visit in '03.
Tony Burton was just 5 years old when he started playing guitar. His father, also a musician, invited him onstage during a show and from then on, Tony often played Tonywith the band. By the time he reached high school, Tony had formed his own group, and they won the “Homegrown Hour” program on the Indianapolis radio station Q95.
Since then, Tony has played with many bands, both on the local and national level, including Roadmaster from 1990 to 1998 and alongside Larry Crane, musician/singer/songwriter and former John Mellencamp sideman.  In addition, Tony’s guitar playing has appeared in the MGM movie, "Madison,” an Indiana Pacers theme song and a Hoosier Lottery commercial. He has co-authored two books by Hal Leonard Publishing, “Heavy Metal Guitar Tricks” and ”Thrash Guitar Method.”  Tony, in partnership with Steve, contributed greatly to the arrangements and sound of Fire Inn Lads.
Scott Pierle has been a staple in the drumming community for many years, despite Scott_1resizedhis youthfullness.  Scott grew up keeping a beat.  Along with is brother, Scott has played with many a regional band, and is a sought after studio drummerScott_2-3_resized and teacher.  The truly amazing thing about Scott's efforts on the three songs is that he added his drum part after the other parts had been recorded.  That's pretty much backwards from the normal way to record and speaks highly of his abilities.

Fire Inn Lads.  Do the math. :)
