Jim Evans - Guitar, Vocal, Harmonica, Flute, Synths.
A collection of fine, imaginative musicians, the Jackdaws are prone to do their own arrangements, making them a must-see band. Jim provides some background, and good news for the future:
"We played around the pubs and clubs of South Wales and at some major festivals including four years of the "Big Cheese".
We did quite a few Lindy covers and people were always amazed that we did and we were always surprised just how many people remembered lindisfarne. We also played quite a lot of our own material and I can never forget that feeling you have when you see someone singing along to one of your own songs.
Geraint and Myself are life long Lindy fans. We sold everything we had to travel all the way to Newcastle to see the first reunion concert when we were seventeen. Chris and Brian got converted by me. Chris, Brian and Myself all played for the same orchestra and before that myself and Brian were part of a Military Band and were trained at The Royal Military School of Music. We made quite a few Records together as well as lots of Radio and TV.
The core of the Jackdaws will be peforming again soon. We are forming a new acoustic band. The line up is Geraint, Myself, Jeff Alderman (He is really Brill), Chris Hudman and a cello player (to be recruited).
Jeff and Chris Hudman are also big lindy fans. Between us we have written over 40 songs and have set a target to perform at cropedy in two years time.
We will be attempting some of the rare lindy tracks such as dingly dell and Alan in the river with flowers.
One day (Year) I would like to form the "pipedream" band and perform the whole of Pipedream complete with the orchestra I play in - Any volunteers ?"
Reforming AND a Pipedream band? Good news for all of us.
Don't miss a chance to see them when the opportunity presents
itself.
