Steve is somewhat of an institution. He has recently performed as a solo act, in the Steve Daggett Trio with Michael and Rachael Bailey, as a duo with Paul Liddell, and with his full band, Silverdirt, which includes Phil Armstrong. Phil is one of those GeorgeHarrison type of guitarists. He knows how to play exactly what's needed for any given song. While the multi-talented Mr. Daggett played all of the rest of the instruments, he called on Phil to add the lap steel. A wise choice as Phil did indeed play the perfect part to compliment Steve's beautiful arrangement of "Shine On". Steve has a long resume which includes a stint with Lindisfarne. That would exclude most people from this project, but no one has been a greater promoter of Lindisfarne's and Alan Hull's songs than Steve has been. Steve has been promoting the Heroes & Scarecrows concert at the Maggie Bank in North Shields every year at the anniversary of Alan Hull's untimely death. H&S is a celebration of the music of Alan Hull. If you've never been to H&S you don't know what you're missing. A wide variety of performers play Alan Hull songs, and best of all, H&S is Steve's vehicle for raising money for BBC's Children In Need.
Phil Armstrong It's a great time and for a good cause. In fact, the LindisFans Project is proud that our profits will be a portion of the total raised through Heroes and Scarecrows. An absolutely brilliant songwriter with several CD's and EP's to his credit, and a true gentleman, Steve is perhaps the ultimate Lindisfarne fan, and much more. Steve's own songs are melodic peeks into life. In a review of his latest album, "Whithout", David Kidman summed it up pretty well, saying, "I’m paying the guy the highest compliments here – and yes, you really do need to hear him." My favorite Daggett song, "The Ballad of Jimmy Forsyth", (from "Songs in a Carrier Bag"), is a timeless masterpiece. In addition to being a gifted singer/songwriter, Steve is a fine producer and engineer who has a number of CD's to his credit, not the least of which was "Dance Your Life Away", though Steve worked with Lindisfarne on several recordings.
