Verity Burton Verity is an accomplished singer/songwriter with a couple of solo CD's to her credit. She is an accomplished guitarist
as well. My first contact with Verity was at an
Accoustic Circus Saturday at The Bridge Hotel.
It was obvious that there was a special talent there. Hearing her
EP's only fortified my opinion of her. Whether a blazing blues number or a soft croon,
Verity's voice knows no bounds. She stepped out
on the ledge on this album, and came back whole.
Her songs were recorded at First Avenue Studios, Newcastle-
upon-Tyne by Dave Curle.
In Verity's own words:
"...I'm a blues singer/songwriter/guitarist based up here in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, which is full of other supportive and wonderful musicians.
"I started out by singing for 'orange juice' in the bars around Teeside and learnt a lot from the grey haired music fanatical buskers who spent their nights jamming after closing time. When I moved to Tyne and Wear, I got to run the University Acoustic society for a couple of years and since then I've carried on gallavanting and playing across the region with my slide guitarist Andy.
"I've made two EPs to date 'Gravity is the Reason' and 'Red' which were received well (especially by my mother!) and since finishing them, I've played at the Newcastle Carling Academy and on BBC Radio Cleveland music show 'Gobstopper' with the lovely Bob Fischer. I now help run an organisation called 'Acoustic Circus' which helps promote other musicians, some new and others well-established.
I also love whiskey, fish net tights, dying my hair, poker, liqourice rizzlas and playing the bodhran really badly!" Find out more about Verity at:
